MEASURING HEAT
A meter is a measuring device. Just as the speedometer in an automobile tells how fast the car is going, a thermometer records how warm or how cold something is.
Thermometers measure heat in degrees. For example, for comfort indoors the temperature in a room should be about 70o Farenheit. A simple room thermometer can tell us how near to this the temperature in a room is. Other kinds of thermometers are also used. One is used to measure the heat of an oven.
